Respite care at home
Looking after someone you love is one of the most important things you’ll ever do, and one of the most tiring. Respite care gives you time to rest, knowing they’re in kind, capable hands at home.
Flexible support
Every family is different, so respite care can be as short or as long as you need.
For appointments, shopping, seeing friends or simply resting. Visits start from 30 minutes.
The same afternoon every week, for example, so you always have time to recharge.
A sleeping or waking night, so you can rest properly. See overnight care.
How it works
Before your break, Jade or David visits to get to know your relative: their routines, likes and dislikes, and anything that helps them feel settled. You’ll meet their carer beforehand, too.
While you’re away, we’ll keep things as close to normal as possible, and you can ask for updates by phone, email or WhatsApp, whichever suits you.
If you look after someone, you can ask Suffolk County Council for a free Carer’s Assessment, which can lead to support such as respite breaks. You may also qualify for Carer’s Allowance.
